Did you know?

According to a Federal Trade Commission, fraud losses reported by older adults have skyrocketed from $600 million in 2020 to $2.4 BILLION in 2024.  However, as most fraud goes unreported, the agency estimates the real losses experienced may be as much as $81.5 BILLION.


Who do I report fraud to?

Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is the primary federal agency for collecting fraud and scam reports. 

National Elder Fraud Hotline

Online: https://www.justice.gov/elderjustice/find-help-or-report-abuse

Phone:  1-833-FRAUD-11  (833-372-8311)

10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Eastern Time   M - F

The Department of Justice's (DOJ) National Elder Fraud Hotline website links to the Eldercare Locator, local Adult Protective Services (APS), and state elder abuse resources. The Eldercare Locator helps older adults find services, while APS investigates elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation and connects victims to protective services and support.

Fraud specialists offer free support and guidance reporting cyber crimes.
